The Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences at the University of Auckland facilitated a recognition ceremony honouring 25 dedicated students who successfully completed the microcredential course, “Improving Wellbeing Outcomes for Pacific Families

What began in 2000 as a vision shared by a group of courageous Samoan nurses has grown into a movement that uplifts families, strengthens cultural identity, and champions wellbeing. Their foresight planted the seeds for an organisation, that over the last two decades have been able to offer over 20 programmes, from mental health support to youth development, all anchored in Pasifika values.

The blessing of our new Ashburton office on Havelock Street marks a meaningful step for Pasifika in Hakatere. This new fale offers a safe, culturally grounded space for connection and support. We’re grateful to all who helped make this possible and continue to walk with us on this journey.

Loto Toa is rooted in a vision of a future where Pasifika young people thrive in environments that celebrate their identity, culture, and wellbeing. When surrounded by support that reflects who they are, our youth rise—and they rise strong.

Every third Thursday of the month, our community members in Hakatere connect over crafts and conversation. From weaving to storytelling, every Island Breeze session reminds us that culture is cure!

Whether it’s a scorching summer or a freezing winter, your home should be your happy place. That’s why our Tamaiti Healthy Homes team are dedicated to supporting Canterbury kāinga in making their homes warmer, drier, and healthier throughout the year. 

Following the success of our Tupulaga mo le Lumana’i Youth Leadership programme for year 7 and 8 Pasifika students, graduates of the course attended a 3-day retreat to further develop their leadership skills.

Our 2024 winter campaign platformed a diverse group of local Pasifika 'Health Heroes' to connect people to our services, primarily  Mobile Nursing, Tamaiti Healthy Homes, and Immunisation support. 

In August, we had the privilege of hosting a Pacific General Assembly here in Ōtautahi, facilitated by Mahi Moana co-founders Hon. Aupito Sua William Sio and Tauʻiliʻili Maiava.

We sat down with Ana Fifita, who shared about health improvements seen in her family after receiving support from Tamaiti Healthy Homes.

In June the Tangata Atumotu team had the opportunity to host and facilitate a talanoa alongside Manatū Hauora - the Ministry of Health Pacific team, to hear a report on progress made by Te Mana Ola - Aotearoa’s legislated Pacific Healthy Strategy.

On May 20th, a historic assembly of Pacific Leaders of Aotearoa was held at the Mangere Arts Centre, heeding calls for kotahitanga.

In April, we had the pleasure of welcoming our many new TAT team members in traditional Pacific fashion.

In early March, we officially opened our Ashburton office. The event was attended by our TAT staff and kainga, community members and reps from our partnering organizations.

We were super proud to see the Linwood Keas’ wahine rugby team embark on a tour of Samoa in February. 

Last month the TAT clinical team attended a talanoa session hosted by the Pacific Youth Leadership And Transformation organisation (PYLAT) alongside special guest, Sir Ashley Bloomfield.
