Empowering Health Through Faith
Members of New Light Worship Life Centre Christchurch are embracing positive lifestyle changes through a six-week Lifestyle Challenge supported by Tangata Atumotu Trust (TAT)’s Healthy Lifestyle Support team.
Delivered under the Pae Ora Waitaha umbrella, the Healthy Lifestyle Support service empowers Pacific individuals and families to make sustainable changes that support their overall health and wellbeing. The challenge has generated strong interest within the congregation, with participation growing from around 25 participants in the first week to 44 participants in the second week, including church members and their aiga.
Throughout the challenge, TAT’s Healthy Lifestyle Advisors provide practical movement and nutrition guidance, helping participants build healthy habits that can be maintained long term. Participants are also supported by TAT’s Pasifika Nursing Team, who provide health observations (OBS) check-ins and support individuals to monitor their progress throughout the six-week programme.
Reverend Tito of New Light Worship Centre has been encouraged by the growing enthusiasm among participants, sharing:
“Our community is excited to be part of this challenge. The response has been really positive, and we continue to see more people signing up each week. We’re looking forward to seeing even more families get involved.”
By bringing health, faith, and community together, the challenge is inspiring lasting change, empowering families to invest in their wellbeing and creating healthier futures for generations to come.
