Our purpose:
Tangata Atumotu is the longest serving Pasifika health and social service provider in the Canterbury region. Over recent times, our staff numbers have grown to meet the demand of our services. Our Trust is governed by a Pasifika Board who are active members of the local Christchurch Pasifika community, with a strong dedication to the health and wellbeing of Pasifika people. We have an extensive, strong, and trusted presence in the local Pasifika community. Our core services address immediate health and social needs as well as social determinants of health.
The role:
The purpose of the Employment Navigator role is to support Pasifika individuals, youth, and āiga to achieve sustainable employment, education, and training outcomes through culturally responsive navigation, coaching, advocacy, and practical support. The role focuses on identifying and reducing barriers to employment while building confidence, capability, and long-term self-determination.
The Employment Navigator works alongside individuals and āiga to develop employment pathways, access opportunities, connect with services, and achieve goals that contribute to improved wellbeing, financial stability, and independence. The role collaborates closely with Whānau Ora Navigators, community partners, employers, training providers, and government agencies to ensure participants receive coordinated and effective support.
The successful applicant will:
Have experience in employment, vocation, and tertiary education
Show evidence of work with existing employment network
Have experience in assessment, evidence‑based interventions and outcome‑focused practice.
Fluency in a Pasifika language would be a bonus.
Hold a current and full NZ driver’s licence and eligible to work in NZ.
